Part of the 1.7 jQuery released last week is the beginning of project to slim down the project by removing unused, confusing, or bulky features from the projects core. Hopefully, some of those features will live as plugins, but it may not be necessary. Anyway, the original article by jQuery is building a slimmer jQuery.
